Hitchcock - Film Review (NO SPOILERS)

February 01, 2015

Director: Sacha Gervasi

Let’s be honest here, Alfred Hitchcock is one of THE MOST famous directors in film history, so watching about a man that spent his life behind the camera led to an interesting insight into the man himself.

Breaking the fourth wall from the onset, this film was quirky and used the element of hindsight perfectly. In this case, the audience was gifted with knowing the outcome of the film, but this didn’t detract from the overall storyline and I was still interested in Hitchcock’s struggle to produce Psycho. Helen Mirren was brilliant as Hitchcock’s wife and Anthony Hopkins managed to show his diversity as an actor by showing emotions simply through his eyes.

Overall, this was a film about a controversial man, the costumes were lovely and the incorporation of fact and fiction worked well.

Score: 8/10
