You know what I will never understand? The huge shock people have when I tell them I don't like drinking alcohol. Why is this such a shock to people?

Is it because stereotypically, all teenagers like to drink? Or is it just that they simply can't imagine life without alcohol? Either way I find it annoying. People don't have this reaction if others are vegetarians or don't like Holby City (crap analogy I know) so why is it any different for drinking?

I used to get the same reaction when I never used to wear make-up, I was made to feel like I was missing something mammoth, like not knowing that the Earth circled the Sun or something, but in reality, drawing little black lines on your eyelids (while looking awesome) is not that big of a deal. It's the same with alcohol. Some people love to drink, and I'm not saying that drinking is necessarily bad (unless you count the hangover the day after) but all I am saying is that it's not for me. Who knows, I may come to like the taste of wine, much like I came to love my signature black eyeliner, but please don't pressure me into something I don't want to do.

This doesn't just apply to drinking, it's a generalised point. If you have a friend who doesn't like horror movies, then please don't force them to watch one on your next movie night. If you have friend who chooses not to eat meat, don't cook them a chicken. It's simple really... don't do something to others you wouldn't want to be done to yourself. If you wouldn't want people to drag you into the bat exhibition at the Zoo because you are terrified of bats, then don't expect your vegetarian friend to eat a steak... All I am saying is, respect people's life choices, they may not be for you, but that person chose them for a reason and calling them 'stupid' is actually quite hurtful.

I know this isn't my normal style of writing but I felt that I had to get this off my chest (so-to-speak)
Lottie :)

  2. I dont understand the big deal about drinking either, anyone who finds it 'cool' and 'hip' needs a life, its just as natural to prefer not to drink than if you enjoy a few bevs every now and then. In my opinion, most ciders and alcoholic drinks taste awful, the only thing I can bring myself to drink is vodka lemonade, and even then I might as well have lemonade on its own. #overrated

  3. :) Same! I don't go out with my friends to forget what has happened, while that's fine for some people, it just doesn't work for me! Would rather have an evening in eating a pizza and watching a film in my onesie if I'm honest!
